FAQs
1. Is the conference only for women? No, we encourage men and families to attend.
2. May I bring my children to the conference? The University of Maine Hutchinson Center requires that all individuals under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. We are unable to provide childcare at the conference but the concert by Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. will be open to all family members.
3. What does my $10 entrance fee cover? It covers entrance into the conference, including all workshops (except for the drumming workshop) and access to the interactive exhibits and all entertainment.
4. Why does the drumming workshop cost extra and how much? The workshop leaders are traveling a great distance to be here and need to be paid. The cost is an additional $35.
5. How many workshops may I take? There are four sessions being held—two in the morning and two in the afternoon. You may choose up to four workshops—one in each time frame. A couple of the workshops are double sessions so you could only take three if you select that one.
6. May I go to the conference without attending the workshops? Yes, you may still enjoy the entertainment, interactive exhibits and great food.
7. Is the Hutchinson Center handicap accessible? Yes.
8. Is smoking allowed? This is a smoke-free event.
9. Are pets allowed? Only service dogs are allowed in the Hutchinson Center.
10. Will there be food for sale? Food vendors are expected but the items available for purchase may be limited. If you have special dietary needs, you should bring your own bag lunch.
11. Will there be things to purchase at the conference? Yes. Many of the exhibitors will offer their products for sale. There will also be chair massages, music and raffle tickets available for purchase.
12. Are volunteers needed to help at the conference? Yes, please click here to link to the volunteer page. Volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated.
13. Who is putting on this conference? The grassroots organization the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). WHI formed a little over a year ago with the initial purpose of investigating the possibility of a Whole Health Center with a focus on women’s health. The conference provides us with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the underserved needs of coastal Maine women while Celebrating Women: Body, Mind and Spirit.
